Interview with Fruzsina Enyedi
06. 02. 2025.
Fruzsina Enyedi, a consultant at eNET, focuses on ESG topics both in her work and academic studies. She has been interested in sustainability since her university years and remains motivated to pursue a career in this field.
During the interview, Fruzsina shares details about her research, how it connects to her work at eNET, and her perspectives on the current and future state of ESG in Hungary and globally.
How long have you been working at eNET, and in what position? Could you tell us about your role and the projects you have worked on so far?
I have been working at eNET for one and a half years as a consultant in the delivery division. My main responsibilities include conducting environmental and social impact assessments and writing feasibility studies. I have participated in several digitalization-related projects, mainly focusing on the environmental aspects. One of my favorite tasks has been conducting climate resilience assessments. As a company, we are currently expanding into the ESG field, so I am working on gaining a deeper understanding of its regulatory background.
Why do you consider ESG important, and what personal experiences or professional inspirations led you to this field?
From the beginning of my university studies, I knew I wanted to work on a topic with environmental or social relevance. I am particularly interested in examining these two aspects together. During my consulting career at eNET, I had the opportunity to engage with corporate sustainability and delve deeper into this subject.
What are your academic studies?
I graduated as a geographer from the University of Szeged. I started my PhD studies in 2019 and have successfully completed all coursework, so I am currently writing my dissertation.
Could you tell us about your dissertation topic?
In my dissertation, I examine the social impacts of urban environmental issues, with a particular focus on urban noise pollution, which is closely related to ESG. I have been researching this topic for a long time, ever since writing my undergraduate thesis. I found noise pollution to be the most intriguing urban environmental issue with social implications because it affects many people, everyone has an opinion about it, yet it does not receive enough attention. ESG is closely linked to this topic, as both are based on sustainability—except that ESG focuses on the corporate perspective, while my dissertation investigates it on a municipal level.
What are your future plans regarding your work and ESG?
Once I achieve my short-term goal of completing my dissertation, I will focus on my long-term objective: applying my knowledge to ESG projects. The biggest advantage of my PhD studies is the strong methodological background I have acquired, which I can utilize in my daily work. This will benefit not only ESG-related projects but also those connected to digitalization or other areas.
How do you see the future of ESG? How might this field evolve in the coming years, and what role could eNET play in it?
I fundamentally believe that the successful adaptation of ESG depends on corporate leadership. If a company does not genuinely embrace ESG principles, it will not bring real benefits or significant change. Encouraging companies with high net carbon emissions to transition to greener operations will significantly impact our future. To achieve this, we need to highlight the available options for them. eNET, as a rapidly adapting company, will continue to effectively support such transformation efforts in the future, from small businesses to large corporations.
How do you view Hungary’s position in ESG compared to the international landscape?
Currently, ESG regulations in Hungary are stricter than in many other countries. One reason for this is that Hungary aims to lead in corporate sustainability adaptation. Additionally, the country seeks to protect its markets and businesses from external negative impacts. Based on these factors, Hungary’s approach to ESG is positive, and for now, stricter-than-average regulations are in place.
