How does an intern become a full-time employee? Cintia Feltóti, a data analyst consultant at eNET, started her career at the company as an intern and, through persistent work, advanced to a consultant, intern supervisor, and mentor role. Read her inspiring story, showcasing the breakdown of how to build a career step-by-step within a supportive corporate environment.

During the interview, Cintia shared her experiences about her intern years, the initial challenges, as well as her future goals and aspirations within the company.

First, could you tell us a bit about yourself and your current role at the company?

I have been a part of the eNET team for four years now. I started out as an intern and currently work as a full-time consultant specializing in data analysis. Parallel to my data analyst responsibilities, I fill the role of an intern supervisor and mentor, supporting the development and work of the interns at the firm.

How did your intern years go at the company? What kind of tasks did you handle?

I joined the company as an intern four years ago. At that time, I was a sociology student at Corvinus University of Budapest and was keen on gaining practical experience related to my studies. This led me to choose eNET, where I initially engaged in various market research, report writing, and general research tasks. This included participating in the execution of different surveys and the direction of interviews. During this period, I worked an average of 20 hours per week, though this varied greatly, as the company is very flexible, considering the academic obligations of interns, like regular study periods or exams, allowing for a balance between school and work commitments.

What were your first impressions when you started working at the company?

From the very beginning, it was evident that everyone at the company was extremely helpful, with a strong focus on the integration of interns. This is achieved not only through the mentorship program but also through the active involvement of more experienced colleagues. At eNET, supporting interns in their first steps and providing continuous feedback is a top priority, as it ensures their growth. Overall, I think it’s excellent to be an intern at eNET, as everyone in the firm’s community strives to help each other, creating many opportunities to learn and develop.

Were there any challenges you faced during your internship?

I believe that the hardest tasks are always those we are doing for the first time and lack prior experience in approaching or structuring. As an intern and even in my current role, every new task presents a challenge, and solving it always leads to growth. I particularly remember one major challenge: preparing my first presentation on project results for the leadership team. The difficulty here, as it often still is, was to condense a larger body of material into a concise and focused summary that includes the most valuable insights to support the leaders in their decision-making.

Let’s talk a bit about how you transitioned from intern to a full-time employee.

I was an intern for a relatively long time since I was still studying, and the flexible schedule typical of internships was ideal alongside university commitments. I started as an intern at eNET during the final year of my bachelor’s degree. Later down the line, in the last semester of my master’s course in behavioral analysis with a big data specialization at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, I transitioned to a full-time role, when the only educational responsibility I had was to submit my thesis. Initially, I worked part-time, then, after obtaining my master’s degree, I switched to full-time employment.

And what should we know about your role as an intern supervisor and mentor?

This year, the need arose for someone to coordinate and monitor the tasks and development of interns and propose improvements to the internship and mentorship program. As an intern leader, I mainly focus on these responsibilities. As a mentor, I have been supporting an intern for a year who is also interested in data analysis. Besides such tasks, we frequently work together on consulting projects, whether in analytics or general consulting. In every case, my aim is to provide guidance and professional support during tasks, and if any difficulties arise, to help find solutions. Mentors provide not only professional support but also actively facilitate the integration of interns, playing a key role in helping them understand the company’s culture and operations. And they are also the primary contacts whom interns turn to for guidance. However, there are times when the mentor and mentee work on separate tasks, yet continuous communication is maintained between them.

Looking back, what are you most proud of in your career?

I am most proud of a project where, after becoming a full-time employee, I first had to take on the role of technical coordinator. In this project, I worked with the project leader and two interns. I coordinated the technical implementation, determining how we would move from problem identification to solution and results, including specific analytical methods. I am very proud of this, as the project was successful, and we all learned a great deal from it.

What are your goals for the future, whether regarding your career or the company?

I want to deepen my knowledge in the field because I thoroughly enjoy both consultancy and data analysis tasks. My primary goal is continuous development and learning while making the most of the opportunities within the company. In the long run, I’d like to move towards a leadership role, taking on more responsibilities and participating in numerous successful projects.
